How to work with the Dutch?

Understanding how Dutch people communicate and behave is essential when working and living in the Netherlands. When you are more aware of your own communication style, and how you may come across to others, you can adapt and anticipate accordingly. This leads to more pleasant collaboration.

In this training, we will discuss the differences in communication styles between different cultures and the Dutch. On top of that, we’ll break down how you can learn to adjust your communication and presentation style to various cultural settings. What can you expect?

4 weeks
Workload indication: 1.5 to 3 hours per week.
Tentative start date: June 2023

  • 1,5 hour online pre-course task (self-paced online, finish before the first session)
  • 2 x 2 hour of virtual classroom training with a trainer + final 1 hour virtual classroom session with a trainer
  • 6 hours online e-learning

For this training, participants need an academic level of thought (≥ HBO) and an intermediate language level of English (≥B1).

How to become more culturally aware?

Do you ever get offended by something your international colleague seems to think is normal? People from different backgrounds have different norms, which often confuse others. From behaviour or emotional reactions, to different use of the same language.

In this training you will work on your cultural self-awareness in order to recognise and bridge cultural gaps. What can you expect?

7 weeks
Workload indication: 1.5 to 3 hours per week.

  • 3 x 1,5 hour of virtual classroom training
  • 6,5 hours online training: e-learning + social learning (buddy sessions)

How to collaborate in an international team?

When working with people from other cultures, you may have noticed that they have different approaches to things like time, decision making, or exchanging feedback. While not always clear, these differences can cause problems like misunderstanding, anger and frustration, especially when collaboration is required.

Our international collaboration training is for anyone who wants to learn how to bridge cultural gaps and increase their capacity for effective collaboration. What can you expect?
